Bedrooms usually call for a soft cut pile since it's a room you're barefoot in every day, while basements and stairs tend to do better with a tighter loop or a patterned carpet that hides traffic and doesn't crush as fast under regular foot traffic. The pad underneath matters just as much as the carpet on top: too thin and the floor feels hard within a year, too thick or the wrong density and it can affect how the seams and edges hold up over time.

Where a carpet job goes wrong
Most bad carpet jobs fail in the same few spots: a seam that landed right in the main walking path where it opens up fastest, a pad that was too cheap or the wrong density for the room, or carpet that was laid without a proper power-stretch and starts rippling loose within a year or two along the edges and doorways.
That's a big part of why we do our own installs start to finish instead of handing the job to a sub. The crew that measures your room and writes the quote is the same crew stretching and seaming the carpet, so nothing gets lost in translation between the sale and the install.
Chapter 03
Install day and cleanup
A typical install day starts with clearing the room, pulling the old carpet and pad, and checking the subfloor underneath for anything that needs fixing before new pad goes down. From there it's tack strip, pad, then the carpet itself, stretched wall to wall and seamed so any pattern lines up.
We haul away the old material and clean up after ourselves before we leave, so you're not the one bagging up carpet scraps after we leave. If you want to plan around it, call or text (712) 522-7734 and we'll walk through timing before we ever measure the room.
Living with it: kids, pets and everyday wear
A house with kids and pets asks more of a carpet than a quiet spare room does, so durability and stain resistance matter more than they might in a formal dining room. Solution-dyed fibers and a tighter twist generally hold color and shape longer under that kind of daily use, which is worth asking about when you're comparing samples side by side.
